Help ensure that your bad, stupid, anti-social, greedy or just plain wrong
planning story is recognised with a ‘Moron.™
Disabled serviceman can’t live in his grandparent’s garden?
Entire villages torn up for airport runways?
Permanent security guards to ensure safe pedestrian access to a sports centre?
200-year old street turned into a truck route?
Planners, developers, architects, sometimes even communities have all played their part in some of the worse examples of bad planning decisions worldwide.
We think they should be recognised and we want to hear from you.
The story you tell us might just be a proposal, already in the process of being decided, proud holder of ‘planning permission or consent’ or perhaps even built – it doesn’t matter. Where recognition is due, we want to give it. You nominate and we award. As simple as that.
We’re accepting nominations from around the planet.
The Awards will be made when no-one is expecting them. Just like so many of those bad decisions.
Why bother? Because we care. And so do you.
The Planning Morons™“Because no matter how stupid an idea is, there’s someone who’ll pass it”.
FAQS
Why Moron™?
It’s an acronym, stupid! ‘Many Obvious Reasons Overcome Nothing’ in recognition that it doesn’t matter how bad an idea is, and how much evidence is weighed against it, the unrelentingly stupid too often prevails in planning circles. So when we dedicate a ‘Moron™’, you know that that it’s founded on a bed rock of ‘Dumb with a capital ‘D’.
What do I do next?
Send us a brief outline to planningmorons@googlemail.co.uk perhaps with pictures of your story. For the
time being, everything is just between us. If we think there’s a Moron™ in there, we’ll be in touch.
Remember – this is personal and every extra detail may help publicise the moronTM in your story.
Who are you?
People dealing with their own morons who know that like you (thanks for stopping by) perhaps all we have left is ‘revenge by Moron’.™
What about legal stuff?
Dunno. We’re just making an award. Nobody has to accept it. You’re here, aren’t you? Carpe diem. What’s the worst that could happen? They might build it, right. Any port in a storm. Cometh the hour… Necessity is the mother of invention. Etc etc.
Isn’t ‘Moron™ not very PC?
On language and political correctness. Once upon a time, words like moron, stupid and dumb were used as crude psychological labels. They’re not any more. They are slang. Besides, MORON™ is an acronym. Idiot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moron_(psychology)
